I will finally get to meet with Dr. Hawkins tomorrow at 2 PM. Hope you can be there, if not I'll let you know what was said. The main thing I want to know is what we can do to help him and the school.
I'm trying to get a meeting set up with Dr. Hawkins next week. Anita said Tue, Thur. and Fri. morning or afternoons are open. Can you get with the other alumni officers and come up with a good time. I still don't have people information so I'll work on that.
I received a wonderful fund raising idea from Nick. What do you think? Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!
Mr. Gates,
My name is Nick Easterling and I was a student at SEBC from 2004-2008. I recieved my associates in 2008. While there I served in different areas such as Chorale, SMF, Chapel Coordinator, & Student Council. I wanted to give you this idea that I actually come up with while at Southeastern. After seeing pictures of the old downtown campus, I really got interested in bringing a historical element back to Southeastern. I thought that since the Gateway served as a symbol for the students going out of the school into the world to minister, it would be a great feature to bring back to Southeastern. One idea that I had to raise money for this project and the school was to sell bricks to make a courtyard similar to what the City of Birmingham did with the vulcan renovation project. Bricks could be purchased in honor, in memory, in dedication, or whatever the need is. This would be a great way that students and alumni could leave their footprints for years to come at SEBC. While I attended, I always liked to hear stories from former students of Southeastern. This project would involve a tremendous amount of planning and dedication but I think that it would be a great addition to Southeastern. I hope that I can be of any assistance that you may need in the future concerning anything with the alumni association.
Thanks,
Nick Easterling
I realized yesterday I'm scheduled to give my testimony to the seniors at Eastside tomorrow so lets meet at around 1:30 in Jenny's office. I guess we will have to do lunch another time.
Campus you attended? Southside, 280, or Valleydale
Both Southside (later part of the eighties & 280
About me...
In 2001 my 1st grandchild (Yates) was present when I graduated from SEBC. In 2007, Blaire and Maggie watched as Di Di ( better than grandmother, or granny, etc.) received a master's degree. The Lord has been so faithful and I feel very honor to be a part of the SEBC family. After two mission's trip, working for a time on the 280 campus. I was off to Texas where I met so many wonderful friends and renew some old friendship. I am now back in Birmingham caring for my mother.
